Linking Relief, Rehabilitation and Development

Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)

DRR is the concept of reducing disaster risks through systemic efforts to analyze and manage the causes of disasters, through reducing exposure to hazards, decreasing vulnerability and improving preparedness for events. Key elements of DRR include pre-disaster activities - prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response - and post-disaster activities - recovery and development. Our work focuses primarily on pre-disaster activities and how to link post-disaster activities with community development programs.
